Dan Primack interviewed me about "A Simple Guide to the Basic Responsibilities of VC-Backed Directors" on PE Week Wire today.  His basic point is a sound one– the recommendations in the Guide will only be useful if people actually implement them in their portfolio companies.  This is why the paper was written concisely by practitioners for practitioners.  At Levensohn Venture Partners, we will circulate "A Simple Guide" across all of our portfolio companies and each company will consider adopting appropriate elements of the Guide based on their board dynamics and development stage.

I invite comments and feedback from anyone who implements the Guide’s eduation modules and look forward to sharing this information with the other members of the Working Group on Director Accountability and Board Effectiveness.

A couple of corrections to Dan’s post–

Reconnex adopted the education modules in the Guide last week– he misspelled the company name.

Kleiner Perkins is not represetned on the board of Veraz Networks, although they are investors in Veraz and Juliet Flint does represent KPCB as a member of the Working Group.
